As an ecofriendly artist with a passion for outdoor adventures, finding the perfect plein air watercolor painting kit can be a game-changer. Recently, I had the pleasure of using ArtToolkit's watercolor kit during an excursion on Utah's Green River, and it exceeded all my expectations.
ArtToolkit's compact, rugged design made it incredibly easy to pack, ensuring that it didn't take up valuable space in my gear. Despite its sleek size, the toolkit had everything I needed to capture the breathtaking desert landscape— the perfect sized pans to fill with my eco-friendly paints, pockets for my vegan brushes and a large enough slot for my favorite FSC-certified Strathmore watercolor journal. It was a joy to set up my painting station in the river and lose myself in the creative process. I was even able to carry enough materials that a friend could join in on the painting fun!
What I love most about it is how hardy and perfect it is for plein air watercolor. Sustainable art often means buying a high-quality tool that will last a lifetime or beyond, and I think this toolkit will last.
As a sustainable artist, I'd recommend purchasing only the case and the watercolor palette and pans, and then filling the rest in with your ecofriendly supplies. Unfortunately, the full kits come with some plastic brushes, pens, and a mini water sprayer that would not suit a plastic-free lifestyle, but, if you get a lot of life out of them, may be worth justifying. The best thing about these kits is that you can get the full kit or the basics and then modify them with your favorite supplies.
ArtToolkit, founded by expeditionary artist Maria Coryell-Martin, has mastered the balance between functionality and portability. Their products are designed to inspire artists to create art every day, whether they're in urban environments or remote wilderness locations. With a dedicated team of artists, educators, and designers, ArtToolkit continues to innovate and refine their offerings, ensuring that each kit is perfectly suited for both beginners and experienced artists.
For anyone looking to elevate their outdoor painting experience, ArtToolkit is a must-have. It allows you to seamlessly integrate art into your adventures, making each journey even more memorable.
